In October of 2019, 300 digital marketers were invited to Google's Dublin offices for the annual Google Premier Partner Awards. It was an incredible event that recognized the top 5% of digital agencies and served as an opportunity to discuss the ever-changing dynamics of the digital advertising industry. It culminated with an awards gala and a pint of Guinness or three.
I was asked to deliver a keynote presentation on the topic of Google Automation, including why I believe in the technology, how it's changed AdVenture Media for the better, and why for so long I actually wanted it to fail.
The event was a huge success, but I still felt that I was not doing enough to properly spread awareness about automation. While it was an extremely humbling moment, it proved that too few people were talking about automation, educating themselves on the topic, and creatively thinking about how automation will shape the future of this industry. As I reflected on this during my flight back to New York, it became clear that I needed to write Join or Die.
